The Photography Show 2016 at the N.E.C in Birmingham This weekend, Russ and I went to The Photography Show at the N.E.C in Birmingham. We drove up Friday evening and stayed there overnight so we’d feel fresh and full of energy on the Saturday. Poor old Russ had a bit of a cold…I mean….was dying of man flu! …I can get away with this because he rarely ever reads the blogs I write! 😉  …but like a true soldier, he carried on and we spent the whole of Saturday at the show. There were lots of very interesting presentations from amazing photographers. We spent most of the day at the Canon stage and the Wedding and Portrait stage, but every so often I dashed off to the Adobe Theatre for a presentation on Photoshop or Lightroom. Russ and I were particularly on the hunt for a new wedding album for our clients and The Photography Show is a great place to look at sample albums from lots of top producers. Commercial photography with Ruta at Sprinkles Gelato in Winton Recently, we did a photo shoot at Sprinkles Gelato on Wimborne Road, Winton, Bournemouth, BH9 2EG with pretty blonde Ruta. The weather was cold and wet that week so a location shoot was impossible without getting very uncomfortable, and wet hair and smudged make-up doesn’t make anyone look or feel good in their pictures! Therefore, we decided to go to Sprinkles cafe, as Russ and I are big fans of their icecream and we love the colour, ambience and lighting of the cafe. We met Ruta there quite late in the evening on a Sunday night so that there wouldn’t be too many people there and we wouldn’t disturb them by taking pictures. The staff at Sprinkles were very obliging and allowed us to stay there for an hour taking photos (we asked beforehand as we weren’t sure if they’d allow us to). We did, of course, eat their icecream first!…..it would’ve been rude not to!…well that’s my excuse! Upcoming Bournemouth Wedding Exhibition 13th March 2016: RR Photographic has a Wedding Exhibition coming up soon on Sunday 13th March 2016 at the Littledown Centre, Chaseside, Bournemouth, BH7 7DX. The exhibition runs from 11am – 3pm. Entry costs just £2 but RR Photographic has some flyers for free entry, so if you would like one of these, send us a message via our enquiry form and we’ll send you a flyer (we only have a certain number so we’ll send the flyers out on a first come first served basis). As a promotion, we are offering discounts on our prices for this year’s wedding bookings for full day weddings which are taken at the wedding exhibition. A very quick portrait photo shoot with the lovely Olive: Yesterday we went to a networking meeting with Olive in Southampton. Olive is a friend of ours and she had previously mentioned to us that she wanted a couple of casual, informal head-shots / portrait photographs done which she could use for her avatar picture on her websites and on her marketing material for her various businesses. As we were going in one car with her to the networking event, we thought we’d take the camera with us in case we got enough time after the networking event to go somewhere scenic and take a couple of good portrait shots for her. Olive is a busy lady and has a very tight schedule so by the time we got back from the event in Southampton, we only had about half an hour before Olive had to leave for another meeting and, unfortunately it was pouring down with rain outside, thank you very much British weather! Portrait photography shoot with model Jade in Poole, Dorset: We recently had a lovely portrait photography photoshoot with gorgeous model Jade in the forest in Poole, Dorset. The weather stayed dry, we had a hint of sun and although it was January, Jade braved the cold for us! We are so lucky in Dorset and Hampshire as we have so many places of beautiful and striking nature and you don’t have to go far to find one of these. With Jade, we went to a little place in Poole, which is very popular with dog walkers and people out for a stroll. The place has many different aspects to it, such as bright, yellow, sandy areas, wide green landscape and shadowy forestry areas thick with pine trees, all of which make fantastic backdrops for a portrait photography photoshoot. Although the area is not far off the main road, it is very muddy so we were all in our wellies or hiking boots until we got to the shooting location, where Jade got changed into her heels!
